Claude Desktop Setup

Prerequisites

  • Claude Desktop (download from claude.ai)
  • Unizo API key and Observability integration ID
  • Node.js v20 or higher

Setup Instructions

  1. Install @mcp-remote if not already installed:

    npm i mcp-remote
  2. Open Claude Desktop and navigate to Settings → Developer → Edit Config

  3. Add the Unizo Observability configuration to claude_desktop_config.json:

{
"mcpServers": {
"unizo-observability": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"mcp-remote",
"https://api.unizo.ai/mcp/observability",
"--allow-http",
"--header",
"apikey:${UNIZO_API_KEY}"
],
"env": {
"UNIZO_API_KEY": "your_api_key"
}
}
}
}

Flags: If npx is producing errors, consider adding -y as the first argument to auto-accept the installation of the mcp-remote package.

{
"mcpServers": {
"unizo-observability": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"mcp-remote",
"https://api.unizo.ai/mcp/observability",
"--allow-http",
"--header",
"apikey:${UNIZO_API_KEY}"
],
"env": {
"UNIZO_API_KEY": "your_api_key"
}
}
}
}
  1. Save the file and restart Claude Desktop

  2. Verify the connection - The tools may take a minute to appear. You should see Observability tools available in Claude.

Available Tools

Once configured, you'll have access to:

  • search_logs - Search and analyze log data
  • query_metrics - Retrieve time-series metrics
  • trace_requests - Follow distributed traces
  • list_alerts - Browse active and historical alerts
  • analyze_anomalies - Detect anomalous patterns
  • create_monitor - Create monitoring rules and alerts

Multiple Integrations

To work with multiple observability providers, add separate server instances:

{
"mcpServers": {
"unizo-observability": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"mcp-remote",
"https://api.unizo.ai/mcp/observability",
"--allow-http",
"--header",
"apikey:${UNIZO_API_KEY}"
],
"env": {
"UNIZO_API_KEY": "your_api_key"
}
},
"unizo-ticketing": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"mcp-remote",
"https://api.unizo.ai/mcp/ticketing",
"--allow-http",
"--header",
"apikey:${UNIZO_API_KEY}"
],
"env": {
"UNIZO_API_KEY": "your_api_key"
}
}
}
}

Troubleshooting

Connection errors

  • Verify Node.js v20+ is installed
  • Check that your integration is active in Unizo dashboard

Debug mode

Add debug environment variables:

{
"env": {
"UNIZO_API_KEY": "your_api_key",
}
}
